Dr. Elayne Arterbery, a radiation oncologist discusses the challenges that surround patients with abnormal imaging findings, as well as those further confounded by dense breast tissue.

"One of the challenges for women that are faced with an abnormal mammogram is the timeframe to get additional imaging, ultrasound, [or] biopsy. There is a waiting period that you don't know whether or not you have a malignancy," says Dr. Arterbery.

To learn more about the challenges surrounding early detection, watch Dr. Arterbery's video below:

Dr. Arterbery also discusses how she has utilized Videssa® Breast in her practice for women with abnormal imaging results in this video featured on WNEM.com.

We need to add complementary breast cancer diagnostic tool to the current standard-of-care imaging techniques. By doing so, we will improve the ability to identify biological cues in a woman's bloodstream that may be indicative of the presence or absence of breast cancer. Ground-breaking technologies in the form of a blood-based approach will help imaging rule-out breast cancer in women with abnormalities and dense breast tissue, while also aiding imaging to more accurately identify breast cancer, increasing the survival rate of the disease.
